Frequently Asked Questions and Hints and Tips from our therapists;

Q- I’ve never had any waxing before, how long do I need to grow the hair for?

A – If you have been shaving your hair it’s best to leave it at least 2 -3 weeks before making and appointment for any waxing to allow the hair to grow through to at least 4-5cm in length

Q – I have never had a facial before, where do I start?

A – This can really depend on your age and any concerns you have with your skin. It’s always best to call us and have a chat with one of our experienced therapists so they can personally advice you which one would be best. If you are ever unsure, a Clarins Classic Aromatic Facial is perfect for any skin type and a good starting point.

Q – What happens with and eyelash tint?

A – First you must have a tint test at least 24 hours before your treatment. This if Free and takes only a few minuets. (No need to make an appointment for a test) We would remove any eye make up and chat about what colour and how dark you would like them, surround your eye contour area with Vaseline to protect it from any tint staining the skin. Your therapist then applies a damp shaped cotton pad under your lower lashes. The tint is applied to the lower lashes 1st then you will be asked to close your eyes and the tint is applied to the top lashes. The lights are dimmed and your will have a complimentary hand and arm massage to relax you while the tint develops over 10 minuets. The tint is then removed with damp cotton wool and your eyes are rinsed with an eye bath. Eye cream / gel will then be applied to nourish your delicate eye contour area. Lash tints can sometimes ‘smart’ a bit. This is completely normal if you want the tint right up to the base of your lash.

Q – My friend has CACI treatments and she looks great, what are they and how soon will I see results.

A – CACI is a non – surgical face lifting treatment that uses micro current to stimulate and re-educate your facial muscles to restore a youthful appearance. As with all treatments, prevention is better than cure, so the younger you start CACI treatments the better. To see any results you must have at least a course of 10-15 treatments and will usually see more defined features from your 4-7th treatment. After you have finished your course we recommend 1 treatment every 3-5 weeks to maintain the results you have achieved.

Q- I am thinking about having filler injections, what’s the difference between Botox and Restylane?

A – Botox is injected into the muscle and paralysis the muscle to prevent or reduce movement that cause the wrinkle. Usually Botox needs to be re-administered every 4-6 months. Restylane is injected into the skin and is formed of Hylauronic acid that hydrates and plumps out the skin, filling up the wrinkle. It can be used to contour the face, smooth out fine lines, re – shape the lip contour and fill deeper lines. The result is immediate and usually last 4-9 months. Please see out Non-surgical solutions page for more details.

Q – My manicure always looks great for the 1st few days then I managed to chip them, what can I do to prevent this?

A- A Jessica manicure can last up to 10 days with the correct home care. Always allow enough time for your nails to dry and do not put your hands into water for at least 2 hours after having them polished. Putting them under the hairdryer will make the polish dry faster but make it brittle!
After 2 days apply 1x coat of Jessica colour and 1x coat of Jessica Brilliance to your nails making sure your seal the tips of the nail plate. Repeat this every 2 days until your 10 days are up! If you don’t want to follow this routine then a Jessica Geleration manicure may be better, as the polish is cured with a UV lamp and is instantly dry and hard when you leave the salon. It can last up to 14- 21 days depending on the condition of your natural nail.

Q – I love being tanned but am starting to worry about sun damage. My friend has spray tans but I’m worried that they will wear of patchy?

A – A spray tan will only ever be as good as your natural tan if you prepare and then look after your skin. EXFOLIATE, EXFOLIATE is the answer! You must exfoliate at least once, 24 hours before you tan your skin. This removes any dead, dry skin cells that would absorb the tan product and go darker than the rest of your skin. If you have very dry skin we advise you exfoliate every other day for at least 6 days prior to your tan with a scrub product such as Clarins Smoothing Body Scrub. Mitts, sponges and brushes just scratch the skin! After your Sienna X spray tan treatment you will be given a sachet of ‘Gradual Tan’. This is a moisturising body lotion with a mild tan solution that will help to prolong your tan. It is still very important to exfoliate every other day after your tan treatment to remove the dead cells evenly. If your tan wears off patchy it is because your dead skin is patchy, not the product or treatment. Exfoliation and moisturising is the only way to prevent this. A member of out team will run through the do’s and don’t when you book your treatment.

Hint’s and Tips from our therapists;

Arrive on time for your appointment or better still 10 mins early and enjoy a cuppa, a magazine and browse our fab range of professional beauty products in our reception area. If you are late for your treatment, it will be your treatment not the next clients that is cut short. You will still be expected to pay for the treatment you booked.

Arrive with very little eye make up on for your eyelash tints and facials. You don’t want your therapists wasting time removing this when she could be giving you some extra massage and pampering.

Ask questions if you have them – use your time with your therapist to pick their brains for hints and tips on anything you are concerned about – skincare / make up / body concerns etc. They are all trained and love to chat about all things beauty so ask away!

Remember your flip flops when you have a Pedicure. Our therapists pride themselves on doing a perfect job when painting your toes, they get very upset when pedicured toes are polished to perfection and toes are squashed back in to shoes. Nails can take up to 2 – 3 hours to dry hard!

When having a waxing treatment or tanning treatment listen to the homecare advice or ask for a leaflet to remind yourself what not to do when you get home. Most tanning mistakes or waxing reactions are due to clients not following the correct homecare advice!

To get the best wax possible, exfoliate regularly at home between your waxing treatments to prevent and lift out any ingrown hairs. Always exfoliate the night before a wax treatment and do not apply any body lotion to the area as this can prevent the wax from sticking to the hair. Always leave your appointments 3-6 week for underarm & bikini and at least 4-8 weeks for legs.

If you would like a high bikini wax, please say so when booking. These treatment can require a bit more therapist experience and time booked out to get the look your are after.

If you have any questions or concerns about any treatment or product then please call or pop in and see one of the team who will be more than happy to chat to you. We also offer FREE consultations at the salon should you require a more in-depth chat about anything at all.
All our team are taught to offer honest, helpful advice so you can be sure you can trust what they say as they just want you to get the result you are after!
